Founder of "Revolution Muslim" Sentenced to 11 Years in Prison

Jesse Morton's found guilty of conspiracy after encouraging death threats against the producers of South Park.

Judge declares website had "vast reach"

Muslim community says website represents a "fringe group" with no credibility.

Co-conspirator Zachery Chesser sentenced to 25 years.

Government says...
“The natural consequence of Morton’s actions is for people throughout the country to fear speaking out – even in jest – lest they also be labeled as enemies who deserve to be killed. The role of Muslims in the United States, the relationship between the United States and the Muslim world, and the existence of links between Islam and terrorism are issues of major public importance. Yet, anyone choosing to address them publicly must carefully weigh the risk of being marked for death by the likes of Morton for saying or writing something perceived as insulting while doing so. Left unchecked, that risk will hamper public policy decision making by dampening public discourse over some of the most consequential issues of our age.

Warning Others about Speed Traps is Protected Speech

Judge rules that motorists who flash their lights to warn of speed traps are exercising free speech rights.

Judge Alan Dickey says, "If the goal of traffic law is promote safety and not to raise revenue, then why wouldn't we want everyone who sees a law enforcement officer with a radar gun in his hand, blinking his lights to slow down all those other cars?"

Free Speech Issue:  Is it an abuse of free speech for motorists to warn others of speed traps?
A broader suit filed by Kintner's attorney against the Florida Highway Patrol on behalf of another driver ticketed in a similar situation is still pending.
