Federal Court Blocks Illinois Eavesdropping Law

Law made it illegal to make an audio or video of police without permission...maximum punishment 15 years.

The current law made it a crime to record police misconduct or crimes without the officer's knowledge...

Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals  says "The Illinois eavesdropping statute restricts far more speech than necessary to protect legitimate privacy interests." 

State Attorney General plans to appeal
